Torque specifications for landing gear bolts/nuts
In the process of doing a pilot assisted annual, I found the bolts were loose on the landing gear axles... which brought into question, how tight should the nuts be torqued. I have the old Goodyear style brake housing and I have heard many stories of people tightening them too much where they crack. Biggest fear is over torquing the nuts. Anyone know what the specification are? I have looked everywhere (100 Series Manual, forums, internet, etc) and no clue.

Are you talking about the bolts that hold the axle to the gear leg? I think you are but not sure what the Goodyear brakes would have to do with that.
If you can't find a specific torque and we are talking standard an bolts I'd use standard torque for the bolt size.

Torque specifications for landing gear bolts/nuts
Bruce
Thanks for the answer. Yes, The bolts to the landing gear that hold the axle and the brake housing to the landing gear leg. A few C170/180 pilots in my area were talking about how I'd better not over torque the bolts on the axle or it will cause the old Goodyear brake housing to crack and possibly lock up the brakes and cause an accident. They put doubt in my mind and now I'm concern on over torquing. I'll go with the AN bolt torque specifications and confirm with the IA when I see him on Monday. Thanks again!
