What does this do?

Post by SUNDBY »

I'm installing the new windows and not sure what part from figure 23-4 in the IPC is for. It's a small retainer clip. I will be installing new interior panels from airtex. Is this retainer to hold the original interior panel and if so do I need it for the new airtex panels? Thanks for any insight into this extermely complex and mind perplexing problem. :?:

Which IPC? Which model airplane?

But just guessing (after looking up all the IPC's)... that it's a late B-model. I believe it's a metal trim strip which finishes out the edge of the window/upholstery. Whether or not Airtex needs it or not should be addressed to those folks.... they know their product.. But I imagine they intend their interiors to utilize all factory attachments and trim.

SUNDBY,
Have you looked at the interion panels by Selkirk Aviation? Very nice fiberglas and easy to keep clean. They advertise in our publications.

Window Frame

Post by n2582d »

Sundby,
Here are a couple of pictures from my '52. Mine has two frames: the top secures the headliner and the bottom/forward has a "U" channel to secure the side panel. What I did not find in the IPC was the retainer clips for the headliner bows as you can see in the top right picture.

Gary, thanks for the photos. That is the same clip i am talking about, however mine was installed below the window, forward and obviously not a clip for the headliner bows. (because of the location). The saga continues!
