Hot Tip for perusing these forums....

Click on "Board Index", then click on "View new posts", and you'll be able to look at the posts that have been active in your absence.

That's how I do it, too...
Is there a possibility of adding "posts from last 12 hours" "24 hours" etc. for those times when I have to step away and screw up the "since last visit" button? Other forums I use that have the same appearance have added options like that...

Do you promise not to screw up within 12/24 hours of each visit?

(I guess I don't see how that would be helpful. If I lose my connection, or accidentally close the browser, I would ordinarily be attempting to get back on line well within a 12 or 24 hour period.)

Meanwhile, it's a simple matter to just go to a particular section (such as the Pilot Lounge) and see your own last post (or find the last msg you read) and observe the time/date that msg was posted...then simply look at the listing of all msgs within that section and read only those posts that are newer than that time/date stamp. Or am I missing something?

Yeah ... I guess some of the other forums have 20-30 sections and (like this one) I check at least twice a day. So, if I leave for 10 minutes I can generate a list of posts within the last 12h or so and usually not miss anything.
It's not as tough when there are only 6 sections.

Yesterday I had to log off and when I came back and reloggedin, I was able to see what I hadn't read. It suprised me because our other site if I logged off, I lost everything. Maybe my computer is just fluked that way.

JOHN Different computers do do * (not a cus word* ) different things. Mine logs me off when I shut of my Netscape browser or turn off the computer. On Deana's computer I am logged-in all the time unless I log-off.

This morning , after a pm from a moderator I tried posting in Member issues with both NETSCAPE9, FIREFOX and Microsoft IExplorer browsers and still get this message

(" " This message has been submitted successfully, but it will need to be approved by a moderator before it is publicly viewable. You will be notified when your post has been approved." " )

I guess i'ma gonna start postin them stuffs from eeeeBAY HERE AN SEE HOW QWIK I GIT NOKED OFF!!!

Gar

All of your posts to the members only section are getting there.

I would suggest that you log out of all you computers. Then go to one and delete the cookies. Then log back in to the forum and see if that fixes it.

I'll leave the tests at the members only section for Dale's trouble shooting should he need them.
CAUTION - My forum posts may be worth what you paid for them!

Where's the legend for those icons on the left side of the individual threads? Some of them are stationary, some move, what's the deal here?

I think they are some George posted in Members Issues that kept my forum active like I hadn't read his post for sometime. I just checked and it is now black to show I read the post.

Those that are especially active have movement.
Richard, the "icons" are notations that appear to the originator of the thread, to enable special posting which keeps the discusson "current". For example, if a new thread is originated by the moderator and it is an announcement that needs to be permanently held "in view", such as a listing of Rules for the Forum,...the thread is given special status as a "sticky", "announcement", or "global"....by selecting one of those options at the bottom of the originating post. This action keeps the thread from chronological drifting, always staying at the top of the first page within the category.
