Mongo, I know you think you know what you said, but I'm not sure you know what you think you meant. 8O

That last msg post is confusing and not sufficiently specific for me to understand your question.

But if you look at the L-19 IPC, Chp 2, pg 166, Fig 54, item 18... that IS the 0642101 spring and it IS the correct shape, not only for a L-19 but also for a 170. (The only difference in the L-19 part and the 170 part is spring thickness. If you installed a L-19 tailwheel bracket you need the corresponding spring, or you need to install a shim.) The other spring PNs you mention (0642154-160) are actually parts of spring-SETS that are included in certain kits, and they usually include that 0642101 spring. Go two pages further into the IPC and read the notes (that are mentioned on pg 166 under the description column.) Click on pic to enlarge.

Anybody got part # 27 laying around?? Mine is cracked at the narrows, I could repair it , but I'd be happy to purchase one that was sound.

George,
Thanks for the patience, it was a little confusing.
The difference between the 0642101 and 0642160 is that the 101 has a 19 degree bend at the tail end, and the 160 has a 10-12 degree bend, which is closer to what was currently on the aircraft. The L-19 tailwheel mtg bracket I used is a 0642151-10, which lines up with the 160 mainspring in the colummns on their IPC for models used on. They are sending me the 160 and say it will work also with the other 3 springs they sent. 0642102, 03 , and 04.
The fig and item number are correct, fig 54 item 18, as well as 15, 16, and 17.

Thankyou,
Rick

I had ordered a set of springs and mounting brackets from Air Repair. What I got was apparently a mixed bag of leaf springs. Some were or may have been correct and some were for a different installation. I finally ordered a set of springs from Univair and everything went back together properly then.
