Reassembly Question?

Post by SUNDBY »

I am finally puting my '53B back together and have a question. Serial #26008. Page 38 of the IPC shows parts #50 and #51. My question is what hole does the aft hole of the brace mount to? I assembled the brace to the top hole just above the control bushing socket on the stationary panel and it feels as though it put an aft load on the panel. I am using the teflon STC and wondering if they are a larger diamater than the original thus pushing the stationary panel back. I hope that makes sense. Any help is appreciated. Sundby

I will be back near my airplane on Sunday if you can wait that long for an answer, and I'll let you know how it was assembled. It also has the Teflon control bushings.

OK, here you go, Sunby.....

Mine is assembled such that the braces are connected to the TOP fastener.... AFT of the instrument panel... FORWARD of the bushing cover. No strain is apparent on the panel.

Flat washers are used to space the cover away from the panel, so as to provide clearance so the bushing is free to rotate..... three flat washers on the bottom two fasteners and only two washers on the top fastener (the brace making up the difference on that top fastener.)

Hope that helps.
