Looking for some suggestions on insulation/sound deadener materials.Dont want to go overboard as far as adding weight.

I believe this is what is in my airplane. But to be honest, don't expect to make these things quiet. Spend your money on door seals and ANC headsets. http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/a ... panels.php

I suspect this stuff would be better at suppressing noise.: http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/a ... nstall.php

Like George says don't expect this to make any difference sound wise. I used a 1" four layer material that is supposedly the best available with no change. I did notice a huge difference in the temperature stability. I used to have a problem with the rear passengers freezing while we would be to hot in the front seat, now I just pull the heater out about 3/4" and the whole cabin is comfortable. If sound is your main concern, get a good set (or 2) of noise reduction headsets.

Soundex insulation kits by Avis Industries 888-513-5088 are STC'd for 170s. They are pre-cut and fit well. Around $700.

Make sure ALL of that old fiberglass insulation is out of your plane. It is breeds corrosion. Bad stuff.
