Re: SE69-24 ( AD )
I was donated a Javelin tank but it needs a few parts to get it working. Anybody have a copy of the required flight manual supplement for using the Javelin tank? See item 402(k) in the TCDS. How about drawings 782-1 and 787 listed in item 113? Would Cessna have these for sale or would I have to get them from the FAA if none of you have them?

Re: SE69-24 ( AD )
I have posted the supplement and associated reference materials in the MX Libarary.
Be advised...that a typographical error (...WHAT??? YOU MUST BE KIDDING!!!.... ) exists in the TCDS, item 402(k), in that it specifies a AFM supplement dated Nov. 18, 1955. The ACTUAL/correct document is dated Nov. 17, 1956 ...almost exactly ONE YEAR later. (see the Mx Library)

Thanks George. Any idea where to find drawing 782-1 and 787?

Re: SE69-24 ( AD )
Drawing 782-1 is merely a forward sump drain...which is ONLY applicable to tricycle gear and floatplanes. NOT APPLICABLE to tailwheel aircraft.
Drawing 787 is a Cabin Air Outlet Vent, which consists of a Neoprent coated Nylon fabric held by a light coil-spring against the cabin floor from the outside....and a "scoop" which provides an exit-path for cabin air, in order to vent any gas/spillage-fumes to atmosphere. I'll try to add that dwg to the post in the MX Library.

Re: SE69-24 ( AD )
Is that another typo then in the TCDS then where it says, "18 gal. auxiliary tank installed in accordance with Javelin Aircraft Co., ... Installation Instructions dated September 15, 1955, and dwgs. Nos. 782-1 and 787 for landplanes and dwgs. Nos. 782-1, 782-2, and 787 for seaplanes"? George, I assume you saw that on drawing 782-1 that it is only for tricycle gear aircraft. Common sense would dictate that a forward sump drain is not necessary on a taildragger.gahorn wrote:Drawing 782-1 is merely a forward sump drain...which is ONLY applicable to tricycle gear and floatplanes. My other question was about FAA approval. I had assumed anything listed in the TCDS as optional equipment could be installed with a logbook entry. But now I notice the asterisk before item 113. According to this TCDS, "approval for the installation of all items of equipment listed herein has been obtained by the aircraft manufacturer except those items preceded by an asterisk (*). The asterisk denotes that approval has been obtained by someone other than the aircraft manufacturer. An item marked with an asterisk may not have been manufactured under a FAA monitored or approved quality control system, and therefore conformity must be determined if the item is not identified by a Form ACA-186, PMA, or other evidence of FAA production approval."
Please tell me I'm being paranoid but I see no Form ACA-186, PMA stamp, or other evidence of FAA production approval. Am I going to need a field approval?
Gary
Re: SE69-24 ( AD )
Yes. You are being paranoid.
(And I was being less-clear than I thought. Thanks for making me clear this up.)
Dwg 782-1 is the main drawing depicting the installation, and it actually depicts a forward AND a rearward tank drain. Dwg 782-2 is a smaller, detailed drawing which further describes the forward drain. BOTH drawings have notes (which may go unnoticed) that the forward drain ONLY applies to tricycle, float or ski-equipped airplanes....or airplanes that convert back-and-forth to those types.
So, even if the TCDS stipulates that Dwg 782-1 applies to all aircraft.... the NOTE which that drawing contains clarifies the matter that the forward drain is not applicable to tailwheel aircraft.

Re: SE69-24 ( AD )
I am looking for the links to the installation instructions for the 18 gallon javelin tank in the baggage compartment. One post had a link to all the documentation but for some reason it said I was not authorized to view that post. Can anyone please send me the link to view those documents? Thank you very much

Contact the Message Board Admins and they will verify your membership and turn you “on” on the message boards. It is unfortunately a separate action due to software that isn’t compatible.
