Concrete (fly-in) and such...(Split Topic)

Post by zero.one.victor »

Jake,I see you're from Orcas Island. My 170 used to live there with it's previous owner,Dale Clark--I bought it from him about 5-1/2 years ago. Are you &/or your 170 new to the island? I recall that Alan Spaulding has a real nice polished & grey B model based there.Other than that one, there was a blue & white A model based there that crashed just south of the airport a few years back.
I fly a brown on white ragwing based at Port Townsend,I'm up & around the islands pretty often. I plan on going to the Concrete fly-in a week from now,I hope to see some other 170's there. Hope you can make it,look for me there. Bela, are you & the bruise brothers going?

Yep....

Gnarly Dude may be there (Jeff). Rodney Claus ('57 180) and several
other Crest knuckledraggers may show up. It's a ways off, but long
range forecasts (at least what I saw of them this morning) say it
should be OK weather-wise.

I'm bringing my tent and sleeping bag, but I reserve the right to
get out of Dodge and split home if the weather sucks (grins).

Jake, (and whomever else from the Pacific NW who is reading
this), join us at Concrete and we'll swap big fat 170 lies....

Eric,

Yes, I and my 170A are new to Orcas. Brought my airplane out last August and my wife, dog, and cat arrived for full time living here last November. We hailed from Peachtree City, Georgia (a good place to be from......a long way from) and plan to be here for the duration.

Sorry guys, I don't know where Concrete is, can someone enlighten me?

Thanks,

Jake

Jake, this saturday, take off from eastsound and fly 25 miles southeast to Skagit Regional Airport, then about 30 miles due east up the Skagit River valley. Tune the radio to 122.9 & look for all the airplanes taking off, landing, and doing fly-by's.
Hope to see ya there.
