Fede

I happen to own a TRD 950 and have been watching ebay for a backup used one. The very nice looking guaranteed ones bring $450 to $500 and others "working when removed" $300-$400 and then the unknown conditions $100- $150. Lots depend on appearance and condition of the faceplate including the somewhat common cracks around the faceplate mounting screws.

Incidently I just bought a KX145 system with indicator and tray for $150 "working when removed" and got lucky. It looks a little better than the one in the plane and I tried it the other day and it is clearer and with more range than the one I had so I'm leaving it in and using the old one as a spare. Two years ago I lost the KX125 N/C the day before we left from WA State to go to AZ for the winter (1200 statute miles) and had to go with the #2 KX145 the whole way.

Good luck.

I read somewhere that UPSAT bought out the Collins line and are discontinuing parts and support for the majority of the Collins product line. I would ask around to make sure you don't end up with an unrepairable unit. I think it may have been either on AVWEB or on UPSAT's website, not sure though.

Actually, I think S-Tec owns the Collins Micro-Line, at least according to their website last time I checked. Russ Farris

My txpdr is working excellent and the front plate is excellent too (a tdr-950). DO you think that 500 bucks will be fine?

I've seen them sell for that. If it is a friend maybe you'd want to make it a little less. If it's with the tray and connectors (harness) $500 probably is a good deal. They are good transponders.

Fede, I envy you flying in Patagonia where you don't need transponders !
Happy flying !

Actually we can fly without a txpdr or anything else, lots of stock pa11 flying here trough the entire country (and other types of vintage planes of course). You need txpdr to fly in the big cities, and we dont have many of these. I invite you all to fly here some day!!!

Exactly the same situation exists here also, Fede! We just haven't told Rudy, because the Homeland Security Agencies want to keep track of him!
