MT Propeller
Any one call Robert Vulsanovic about a possible STC for an electrically controlled MT prop for the C145 and 0-300?
Well I did. He has an ad in the 4th Qtr 170 news and the December fly paper. Not sure why he didn't post it here.
They are claiming 12 to 13% improvement in take off, climb, HP, and thrust. A flatter prop allows higher rpms and therefore a little more HP.
Why wasn't, or isn't, the McCauley C7 two position prop more popular? Was it not reliable or didn't it produce the performance that it did on paper?

Re: MT Propeller
No, they are doing the engineering and calculating the feasibility of an STC for the C145 and 0-300. He told me the 170, 170A and 170B would be included.

Re: MT Propeller
That would be very cool to have an electrically controlled prop option.
Who knows why the two position prop wasn't very popular. I had a demonstration ride in the only plane I know that has one and it seemed to perform very well.
I'd venture to guess one of the problems or limitations with the McCauley two position prop is it required the installation of the C-145-2H or 0-300-B engine with the control for the prop. Not many airplanes came with these engines I'd guess and who would change out a good -2 or -A for the -2H or -B with the added cost.

Hello gentlemen,
Still working on the MT Propeller options!
Once engineering is complete, we will need about 50 orders.

At 50 orders, what do you imagine the cost will be per unit?

I'll be very interested in the performance improvements. Especially at higher field elevations for climb.

Re: MT Propeller
I sort of remember a fly in about twenty years ago when the owner of a prop shop in stockton had an MT prop on a 172 and said he was trying to ger an STC or something to install them on the C-172s. Never heard any more about it. The shop later changed owners.

A while back there was a guy in Salinas California that had a 180hp 170B with the MT three bladed prop on it. I believe it was a field approval.
