What have you done for your 170 today?
I thought I would start a topic to see where it would run.
I washed all the dry lake mud off of 13D today. Then I did a flight review with her. D

Put a quart of oil in her, installed the cover over the cowl opening in front of the oil pan, make her start at 35 F, and took her out for an hour of beautiful smooth flying.
Then I hung a 60 watt 130 volt troublelight under the cowl and put the insulated engine and prop cover on.

Stuffed the 80 year old redneck uncle inlaw into the plane and flew tree top level for 2 hours lookin at wildlife. That shut him up. Got me out of goin to church with the church lady aunt inlaw. Priceless!

Sounds like a nice plane you have. Do you have any pictures you can post? A few weeks ago I was flying near Concord, Ca and a polished 170 flew right under me heading north, I wonder if that was you?runerider wrote:Since I bought 2390D April of 2011. If I can figure out how to post pictures I have a bunch, mine is still in the hangar being put back together.

Thanks for the photos. Appears you have installed an extended baggage compartment? If so, was it someone's stc or your field approval? Weight limit? Most of us are always looking for a way to put more stuff in our planes

Most of the extended baggage compartments I've seen have a 20-lb limit. I use mine for sleeping bags and pillows, and once in a great while it helps fit something long into the airplane.170C wrote:Thanks for the photos. Re: What have you done for your 170 today?
Put the 170 to the back of the hangar, put the Supercub in the front. Between an extremely wet summer and hurricane Irene and a ton of rain the following week and now 6" of snow I think the 170 might be done flying until next spring. Don't want to rut the field up with 600x6 tires on a 2200lb airplane. Mabee if some of the snow melts AND it gets cold (like getting some frost in the ground) the 170 might get another chance this year. I hope.

George is not kidding here. We are in desperate need all the time for material to fill your associations print publication.gahorn wrote:I installed L.E.D. cabin/dome light. We need high res pictures and can't in most cases use the pictures posted here or I'd be harvesting them for the purpose. Most likely the resolution set when you took the pictures will be enough (but of course higher is better)
No article is really needed. A simple photo caption for each picture would be nice. We'll start running them under the same head line as this thread. What you all say. How about it runerider and all the rest of you guys. One high res picture of the flap gate install or your wife in front of the plane at the restaurant.
Send them to me by EMAIL now or anytime. Please I'm begging you.
CAUTION - My forum posts may be worth what you paid for them!
