Continental O-360 Conversion kit

Post by josephgugel »

I really want to convert my 170 to a 180 horse but I do not know who makes the conversion kit and if it's even worth the money. :(

Harry Dellicker at Del Air in Porterville, CA., makes the best conversion kit. It is VERY complete and the workmanship is very expert, but it's not cheap.
You wanted information on an O-360 conversion at 180 HP. That would be a Lycoming Engine. Continental makes only an IO-360 engine and it is 210 HP.
There is no Continental IO-360 conversion kit presently available.

What about the IO-360M1B 180hp Lycoming conversion by Stoots Aviation?

According to their website they offer "Tail Wheel Conversions on Cessna Models 170, 172 and 175 Airframes."

I wonder if they could help me out?

So you own a MetCo Air tricycle conversion that is still converted?

Or has the conversion since been corrected?

It still looks better than a 172 :)

Love the round tail.

That picture was from 1964, a member found it on an auction website and wrote a letter to my father to inform him.
She was converted back sometime in the 70s. Unfortunately we still have a lot of evidence of the conversion still on, in and around the airplane.

What she looks like these days...
