Willie had another tough night last night. Everyone keep Willie and Mary Jo in your thoughts and prayers. They just might be in Texas longer than we thought yesterday but it will be a few days before we know and he's back up on his feet. He'll have some serious recuperating to do and knowing Willie, that will be the toughest part, not doing much. He's like Taz when he's feeling good.
Don- Congrats on starting your place in January, good luck with the project.

I'm guessing you may know Hugh Grandstaff. If so, we grew up together and he took me up in an Aeronca L-3 Defender for my first airplane ride the summer of 1970 after we graduated from high school.

Willie & Mary Jo, I realize that it may be a few days/weeks before you may feel like checking out the 170 forum, but when you do, keep in mind that this IS NOT the usual way we Texicans welcome folks to Texas Geeze what a way to spend your Thanksgiving Seriously, sorry to hear of your medical issues, but take it easy, follow the doc's (and Mary Jo's ) advise and we will look forward to you making a full recovery soon. We are thinking about you.

I DO know Hugh Grandstaff! Not only have I flown with Hugh at SWA but he and I flew a Grumman Cheetah back in 1975 when we were working on our instrument ratings. Small world.

Yep, small world. I was also working on my instrument rating back then at O'brien Airpark north of Waxahachie flying my 170 with Hugh after classes at UTA. He and I grew up together and carpooled to college in my 1960 MGA and his 1962 Buick Electra.

My very first flight was in 1970 with Hugh in his $400 65hp Aeronca L-3 purchased at a Sheriff's auction. He kept harping on keeping a place to land in sight in case the engine quit, then, the engine quit, due to pesticide contamination in the gas we bought from the crop-duster strip at Hillsboro, TX and we made a forced landing at a private airstrip between Hillsboro and Lake Whitney. Once I realized an engine failure would not automatically kill you, I was hooked on flying. Hugh was a little wobbly for a few minutes but we went on to Lake Whitney and back to O'brien with no further excitement.

God, How I envy you guys your High school graduation. Back in the days of my terribly misspent youth, the call of Lockheed Aircraft at fifty three cents an hour more than I could resist. Adios, Galileo High School in San Francisco, where I was "studying" four hours a day in Machine Shop.

Latest update on Willie......he's feeling much better and things are looking up for his recovery. The good news is Mary jo says she will make sure they stay at least until the Christmas party.

That's good news about Willie. I wont be able to come to the Christmas party but I WILL be at the summer meeting in Bardwell, Ky. Looking forward to seeing everybody. Get well soon Willie!

Luvjet, I'm based in ATL with LUVs other airline... probably be a year before I cross over to your side. I'm hoping to make the convention in KY next year too. Hope to see you then if not sooner. If you get some time in ATL, let me know and I'll meet you for lunch or something if I'm around.

well we made it out of the hospital today. We just have 2 tubes sticking in me yet and hope they will come out on Friday. I have received excellent health care in San Antonio and the people have gone out of there way helping my wife get around as well. I don't know being that I own a piece of Texas now, but I'm going to say it anyway......I sure was proud to be a Texan the last several days and have such caring people around us.

I don't know what we would have done with out our wonderful friends Richard and Ina they are just the best you can find. I'd take Richard as a brother any day! Ina has been great support for Mary Jo as well......words can't say enough.

As my friend Richard says we will wake up tomorrow and see what the day brings. We may be here for a bit yet and may even make the party.

Dubya, glad to hear your out of the expensive hotel and getting back on your feet! I know you've gotten the best of treatment cause Mary Jo wouldn't allow anything but.
