Yes ,I know I am on my soap box but I refuse to carry a extinguisher in the cabin of my aircraft . If you have a fire in a small cabin it's usually caused by a electrical fault and very rarely fuel . So if a fire breaks out kill all the electrical power or if necessary if a fuel fire shut the fuel off and get down ASAP? . I have had a few engine fires on start and blown most of them out and when we couldn't , a fire extinguisher from the outside was used . We left the aircraft in a big way then .

AK7053-12 has been placed together with SK210-176. I edited my previous entry to include a link.

Many of the Service Bulletins and Service Newsletters I have placed in the Maintenance Library come from McCurtain Technology Group. They gave me written permission to copy some of this material which they have copyright to. The CD that I linked is loaded with some fascinating material. Plan on getting nothing done at home for several weeks if you buy the CD.

Can I join you on that soap box? Before spending money on a fire extinguisher get rid of the old wiring with insulation falling off it. Replace it and all that makeshift automotive wiring behind the panel with the appropriate size tefzel wiring. Then replace all stiff old fuel hoses with new ones together with the rubber hoses connecting the overhead vent system. Finally replace that old copper oil pressure and fuel primer line. After all that is done you can order a fire extinguisher that you'll probably never need to use.

Make not mistake. The fire extinguisher I just placed in our aircraft is not to fight an in flight fire. It is there to be handy should mine or perhaps a friends plane starts on fire while on the ground. And as I said it makes a convenient tool to knock someone out after I put them out.

I received the extinguisher in the mail today and went out to the hangar with it. It fits perfectly underneath the seat. I am installing it per the parts manual but on the inboard side of the pilot seat. I installing it there because it allows you to see it when you have the door open. If I am paying the penalty in weight I might as well be able to enjoy looking at it!! I don't really know why but I love the looks of this thing and I really think it adds something to the plane.

I want to see a video of it putting out a marshmallow on a fly-out camping trip!

All installed. Fits perfect and I actually understand why they put it where they did. The pilot can still reach around and grab it in flight if needed, and it is easily reachable on the ground if need be. All in all, I really like how it turned out. And.... now I have a great weapon to keep the kids in line
(or any other pax who get out of line).

So Mike I'm trying to figure our what that seatbelt retract system is doing under the seat in that location?

I haven't hooked it back up since I removed the seat. After thinking about it, I am probably just going to remove it all together.

My exact thoughts. And besides, I'm used to seats flying backwards at inopportune times...I used to fly Herks.

If that is the secondary seat stop, it is not mounted in the correct place according to the way I remember the install instructions. Mine is mounted low on the inside of the back outside seat leg.

Hmmmmm.....it was installed at our fields Cessna service station by a gentleman who's work I really trust. Worked fine the way it was installed.

OK, I implied the installation was wrong which was to strong a statement. Heck mine could be wrong. I've not reviewed the instructions recently but remember then being different depending on the style of seat. You and I have the same seat yet the installation of the reel is totally different. There may have been options available to the installer.

I did review the instructions verses my installation at the time partly because of how it was installed on my seat but mostly because I would inspect any work verses instructions for anything done on my plane. I found my installation matched the instructions within reason and yours is different which I find interesting not necessarily bad.

Now I'll have to make note of all the different Cessna Secondary Seat Stop installations I see to note the differences found. It's just me.

Thanks for the heads up on the seatstop being installed wrong. I would have never known if not for you guys. This is why I like to do my own work on my airplane. I tend to obsesses about doing things right and do a lot of research before I lift a wrench. I'm gonna go by the service station today and let them know there install wasn't in accordance with the drawing.
