I've got the secondary stop in my airplane. It works, I like it. Someday I may not get the seat lock pins exactly all the way into the holes, but I'll be ok because the reel will catch and hold. What's not to like?
My friend Pat once had a 172 seat roll back on takeoff and he was only able to keep from stalling by pushing the yoke with his foot. He got religion about seats, seat rails, and seat stops real quick.

" FREE " the go word that works every time for this simplistic Scottish type.
Haven't had an issue with it.

An SB is voluntary (for non commercial operators, which face it, make up a lot of Cessna's owners), which means if they want to avoid those lawsuits they have to incentivize owners to comply, hence no charge. An AD, on the other hand, is mandatory. AD's essentially absolve the OEM of liability since they can credibly say "the aircraft was deemed by the FAA as unairworthy." In this case there is no reason for Cessna not to charge other than the goodness of their hearts. Not sayin' they will, just sayin' they could.KS170A wrote:Cessna has been sued so many times for the seat track issues, I really can't believe they would charge much, if anything, if it did become an AD (which I also doubt). Even if they did start charging, likely not much (the fuel caps are still somewhat reasonably priced).flyboy122 wrote:his feeling was act now because if the FAA makes it an AD Cessna may stop giving them away and start charging. He also cautioned not to be in a hurry as Cessna is months behind on delivery.

Gots (Yep, I spelled it that way on purpose) mine installed yesterday at Summit Aviation in Bentonville, AR. Some of the best bunch of people I have ever dealt with. Only been an aircraft owner for 10 years so maybe that is not saying a lot but the folks that I worked with to get this installed were awesome. Being a Cessna Service Center I was expecting some had nosed better than me attitude folks. They have been working with me for 3+ months to get a window between weather and work to get in there to have the work done. Most importantly soon as I popped the door open I received a compliment on my girl, there were more to follow, not that she is a show winner but I guess that you have an old classic plane that looks good and folks don't see every day.
I didn't do research on this item before hand so was surprised after the install, I was just expecting to see just a device on the rail behind the seat somewhere that would be in my way when I really needed the seat all the way back. I gotta say I really like the setup on this so far. Of course I realize it's new and things can get out of adjustment or break over time but what else is new.
