I have a manometer I built like that shown at the link. Works very well and is fun to use. I added a very small syringe to provide the pressure which was more convenient than blowing into and squeezing off the tubing.

Heed all warnings of over pressurizing your AS gauge and breaking it.

On my manometer I used the bulb pump off of an old blood pressure tester for the air pump. The bleed off screw makes a perfect set up.

Ol' Gar sez he uses a squeeze-bulb from a blow-up doll-girl he won in a poker game.

Mine's the same -- reads about 10 standing still. If you click the picture you can see that there is a "0", but it's painted over. I took this picture during my 91.411 altimeter/static system check. Even though it's not required, the guy doing the test always checks the airspeed indicator too, because the test box can do it and he figures most owners would want to know if the ASI is wrong. Mine checked out ok from 40 to 140, in spite of the error at zero.

No, it's blue, but with the Avcon I kept running off the top of the old ASI, so I installed this one. You know how fast Lycomings are. But you must have 220 or 240 on yours!

Dave,
Maybe we should both install Mach meters. :D Mine only goes to 180 however being a lazy toad I installed one that computes TAS right on the face.

All,
I wanted to do a follow-up/close on this topic. I ended up having both the airspeed and altitude indicators overhauled. Before and after pics:
Still a ton of panel work to do....

Capital Aviation. I can only say good things about them.

The process took longer than I wanted it to take - but not longer than they said it would take.
