Lifting with a web Strap close to Firewall - Lift on the engine mount. Do ONE side a t a time.
My A P IA did a P PONK kit install by this method.

Nothing elaborate needed to lift. You do not have to build the wood stands in Manual. You do not have to build ANYTHING.

Go to Harbor Freight purchase an automotive engine removal jack and some web straps . Better yet borrow same from local home mechanic. Look on Craigslist 35.00 and you help someone clean out their garage
Tool rental companies will rent these engine removal jacks. They disassemble and will transport in small Mazda type cars w seat folded.

A little late, but as promised, here are some pics of the frame I made to hold up the fuselage during main gear service. This is actually the MKII. The MKI that I built per the illustration in the 100-series manual broke under the sustained weight of the 170 (less engine) after about 1 week. Thankfully, I hadn't removed the landing gear yet!
