I have a spare automotive unit I keep on-hand ...for “testing” purposes, of course. The $35 lifetime-warranteed AutoZone (Wells) unit has to be carefully inventoried, however, as it is difficult to distinguish from the OEM Delco-Remy, especially if the covers are mixed up by accidnet.

Well, I have received and installed the Zeftronics regulator and it solved my charging issue. It starts showing a charge around 1400rpm. Thank you to everyone for your help. The 170 electrical manual was a great help and pointed out the regulator as the issue.
