brake lines

I have recently installed 180 gear legs on my ragwing. Did not like the bracketts for the brake lines. I have lost the part number but... if you look in a Cessna parts manual for 206/207s ,they have a piece of plastic that glues on the back side of gear leg and the steel brake line pushed into this , then I made a brackett the went around the leg at the fitting from hard pipe to the flex line looks excelent. The stuff comes in 18 1/2'' pieces and is a $3-$5.00 apiece thing. Russ

A guy at my airport has a 195 he's owned for over 30 years. The brake lines, where they run down the back of the gear legs, are faired in using a piece of balsa wood, hollowed out for the brake line & tapered at the trailing edge. One recently peeled off when the brake line broke at the top. He replaced both brake lines, don't know if he refaired them or not. Might be that the line corroded due to the balsa wood retaining water. In any event, concealing the brake line made it impossible to inspect. I don't imagine that theym ade the airplane enough faster to be worth the trouble. Think I'll stick to clips.
Russ, how do you like the 180 legs? I see that you're famous now,got your picture in the WPA newsletter. Can I have an autograph?

Hey Barry,
Since you're plane is the closest to mine off the assembly line, N4380B & N4387B and both reg AK, I've wondered what your's looked like. Great Pictures!
Where did Judy get the clips, I might swing by there when I get off the Slope? I've never thought much about the tie wraps on mine, but now that I'm in the Lower 48 they look cheap. I'm embarrased to say it mit, but down there one must keep up with the George's (Jones's?) Thinking about the Silicon. I did have a pilot jump out of a 172 and run over to admire my plane. He said now that's what I want, a rugged plane. He was wearing camoflauge and his name was Billy Bob sumpnother.

The location of the dimple and clip on my gear legs (180) is too high leaving six or eight inches of aluminum tube below that tends to bend away from the leg. As menioned earlier in this thread my 195 had all flexible aeroquip (stainless braid covered type 666) fastened to the trailing edge of the gear. I'm thinking of doing that again or else I'll put a hose over the new aluminum tube at the lower end and silicone it down. I have to replace the old aluminum tubing this Spring anyway. And the short hoses at the master cylinders are in terrible shape.

Look again. It's more like $600-$700 from Cessna. Ridiculous!

Either Spruce or McFarlane sells it now.
