I would leave the lifting rings on to aid in maintenance. If you ever have to work on the gear box area they sure would be handy. When I replaced the gear boxes on 45D we had to make a support to hold the plane up under the motor mount. Could even use them to change tires, repair brakes and etc. Ever tried jacking it up and the jack nearly fall when the spring gear relaxes from the removal of weight. Yours probably doesn't do that since it has those COOL looking 180 gear legs that are stiffer and hold weight better. I would check under the lugs for a nylon washer to help seal out water and to reduce the chance of corrosion if the lift rings are stainless steel before painting though. Randal
