I removed the Concorde battery in my 140 the other day and was pretty surprised it needed a 13mm wrench for the connector bolts.

Since were on the subject of batterys. Anyone working on one with acid in it becarefull. I met a old timer not long ago. He was working on his car cleaning the battery posts. Finished the job and went in for the evening to have dinner. The next morning he was perminanently blind !
The doctors figured he must have gotten battery acid on the back of his hands and wiped his face. He said he didn't feel anything.
As for my new acid free battery in my plane, I guess maybe I should take it out and see if they will give me another one. Its starting to drop off after only two days. Its a RG-25

Not disputing the rumor...but that sure sounds like one. (The amount of acid necessary to cause blindness would certainly be felt, and definitely noticed, and not likely to be carried on the back of one's hands...unless the old boy already had central nervous system damage that prevented all feeling.... in which case it might also explain a sudden blindness.)
In any case, I keep a box of baking soda and a gallon of distilled water as service-items anytime I work on the battery. Fire extinguishers are in each corner of my hangar and one in the plane. OSHA would have you wear safety-goggles. Good idea, too!

George, don't forget the rubber gloves/long sleeves/face mask/head cover & two assistants standing by.

As long as the two assistants are properly dressed, trained, female nurses....I'm all for that recommendation!

GEORGE TRYS TO GIT ME TO THROW AWAY MY SPECIAL WALMARKS BATTERY AN HIDE MY SPECIAL VISEGRIP BATTERY CABLE CLAMPS EVER ANNUAL BUT THEM WALMARK SPECIALS IS ONLY $19.95. VISEGRIPS IS GITTIN MORE EXPENSIVE THO AND THEY DON'T FIT UNDER THE BATTERY COVER TOO GOOD.
