she's finally together and in the air!

it only took 1 day to take her apart, 8 years to pay for repairs and new engine, and 4 months to get her back together.

weighed in at #1256. :D

I’ll probably check a little flack but I really like that square tail.

Wimmen and planes are prettier to my eye, if they have round tails. (But your plane certainly looks good anyway!)

Well, I don't care what George says about "round tails" I like your '56 172 CG (conventional gear) :!: And I certainly wouldn't be prejudice now would I

I see them as two separate yet very similar planes. Of course I like the round tail but I also like the square. I wouldn't want a square tail on a 170 nor a round tail on the 172.

The square tail 172 is my favorite of the 172 breed. They look so nice without the training wheel.

In regard to the Javelin tank and fuel in the cabin. There is supposed to be a vent on the first inspection hole back from the firewall on the bottom. It replaces the round cover plate and has a disk with rubber gasket glued on to it bolted to the vent housing with a spacer that it slides on. There is a very light spring that keeps the disk up and closes the airflow until moving. That keeps exhaust fumes from entering the cabin during ground operations. Then once moving fast enough it opens and air is pulled through the fusalage under the floorboards from the rear to the front out the vent. This is a Javelin part and according to the paperwork it is required on all Javelin installations. Other than on 8018A I've only seen one installed. Harolds 92CP (now "Clark's Plane") also didn't have one so I'm going to have to make one I guess.
