Could be leaking from where the filler neck threads into the retainer assembly
There are some gaskets to leak too
I am assuming that the 170 tank fillers are similar to the 170 A
Mine was sealed with silicone seal --YUCK
they still leak a bit but I keep it in the hanger
the fix I think is to take the neck out and use sealer on the threads

Pro-Seal or PR1422 are both good fuel-resistant adhesive/sealers.
