According to a post at this thread location http://www.cessna170.org/phpBB2/viewtop ... fuel+valve the new retro fit is $5400 (Five thousand four hundred). That's right.

This thread also describes in more detail ways to clean and lap the older valves to perhaps salvage them.

I've got no idea what a salvage yard might want for a valve.

Price for it new?

Price for it used?

Price for the new style new or used?
New: 0513120-5 VALVE ASSY FUEL (Cessna List Price: $ 1,149.00)

Typical salvage prices are 50% of new on most parts.

The original (older) valve was made by Weatherhead, who is still in business. Aircraft Spruce offers a non-approved such valve (but watch the fitting sizes...they can probably provide you with a contact at Weatherhead, however, should you wish to call them directly) for less than $30. There is also a 4-way (4-port) version PN6747, for left/right/both/off also.(Here is the 3-way, PN6749 pictured.)

Also if you look at the Piper aircraft fuel valves. There is one that is PMA 'd that is a bolt in replacement for the one above. # 6s122 I think.
