John, I see the "personal range" argument against extra fuel often on the Vans Air Force forums. My counter arguments are 1) if you don't have the need for the fuel for a particular flight you don't have fill all the tanks and 2) you don't have to use all of the fuel in one leg, that is you can fly out and back to an airport without fuel, or you can press on if an airport you thought had furl doesn't. The extra capacity just gives you more options.

I have heard it said that an airplane can have full fuel and full seats at the same time isn't as well designed as it could have been.
