Mike, I refrained from answering your post because quite frankly, there's no question as to what we "are". There may be variances only in the amount of, so please limit your use of the "C" word as most of us here enjoy the calm associated with denial in-spite of the obvious colour thing symptom.

Bruce Fenstermacher wrote:The prop control on the C-145-2H/0-300B was not a variable affair, but an all or nothing control. Hence the 2 position McCauley which only has two settings, high and low. It also worked with the Aeromatic prop because in that prop it was an override of the weighted prop control system. The override was either on or it wasn't.
I visited Kent Tarver in Fallon, NV last month. A very nice gentleman. Although he has parts for the F-200H "Hi-Cruise" propeller, he was not familiar with the O-300B and its prop control valve. Bruce, I don't know if I'd describe it as an "override". The automatic variable pitch function of the Aeromatic prop still operates as on a straight F-200. Providing oil pressure to the cylinder in front of the prop hub moves the low pitch stop so that at altitude the engine can achieve a higher RPM. There's an inch or two of travel in the prop control lever. Don't you think that one could regulate the amount of oil pressure to the cylinder by placing the prop control lever in a position between the stops? I really don't know. Speaking of the prop control lever. Someone hacked off the end of the one I have. Is there anyone that is not using that function of their O-300B that would be willing to trade their valve with mine?

Looking at the spool, Without looking at the case I'm not sure how it ports the oil as there appears to be two oil flow paths.
