Look at that PAINT! Nice! But how did you reinstall the top skin without scratching? Both times I've had the skins off I've been very glad I don't have paint worth protecting. At least no one will notice the new scratches!

Thank you Dave; remember that the paint is Sherwin-Williams JetGlo and is less than 9 years old, so it’s still pretty tough, and I’d just cleaned the cover with WashWax-All brand cleaner/wax before I reinstalled it. To prevent chipping the forward edge, I placed tongue depressors under the leading edge skin to guide the tank cover in place (actually I had to install the cover twice as unbeknownst to me on the first try, one of the tinnerman nuts on the filler adapter had slid out of place).
