Re Willie's photo: I have a piece of "bathroom art" with a similar theme: A line of dogs with crossed legs in an urban setting, all "holding it" while waiting their turn for the lone tree...

Not a dog, but loved and now missed nonetheless. We lost Zip (popularly known as Zipper Dude) last Thursday after 13-1/2 years. My girls raised him and his brother Tom (still alive and well ) from a week old with an eydropper and baby bottle after finding them in an apple crate in my old hangar. Karen and I buried Zip Friday in a box I made made lumber left in my current hangar by the previous owner.
Rest in Peace Zipper Dude - 50pct.JPG

Friends and fellow dog lovers I have a serious problem and hope that I might find a solution here. My best furry friend, the Bandit, has a problem with being nice around other dogs when they exhibit aggressive behavior. Unfortunately size of her opponent doesn't make any difference to her. She has grown up free roaming and when we are out and about and a confrontation arises she goes deaf to commands. I hate to take her freedom away, but she has gone to war several times with the loud aggressive dachshunds who belong to a neighbor up the runway, and has the ability to do damage in a very short time. Today it happened again and it is the last time I want to see that happen.
It breaks my heart but both she and I need find her a good home. Someone with lots of roaming space who needs a wonderful friend could find that in the Bandit. She is 5 years old , has been spayed and had all her shots. She is great around adults but very shy around kids.

I can vouch for "Bandit' being a sweet, smart dog. She loves a belly-rub, and is very well behaved... incredibly fast-learner and watches your every-move...in no-time she knows "the drill" and will anticipate what you want. She's a "close" dog...meaning she hangs close until ignored, then she entertains herself, not needing or demanding constant attention. She's quiet...not a "barker"..,unless somethin's going on that ain't right!
She's a clean dog...keeps herself well-groomed, and being short-haired, is a low-maintenance girl.
She's a great companion and loves people. (Just don't put up with other "pushy" dogs. She's made friends with the neighbor's puppy, but those snotty, barky, intrusive, wiener-dogs always comin' over and fussin at her "jes need a lesson'!)
Anyone with a farm or airport (she knows about dangerous machinery) needing a dutiful watch-dog will find Bandit a real pleasure!

If Bandit wasn't so far away I would take her in a heart beat.....Mackinzy loves company...K-9 or Feline, it doesn't matter. we just lost a neighbor dog to caner, Mac misses Pug. they used to run the runway and attack each other...all in fun...Mac was just faster than Pug...( a mix boxer and mastiff) I think.(BIG DOG) anyway I hope you find a good home for Bandit. Of course if your looking for a long trip......you could alwayse bring her to Dwight

Thanks Brad and Bruce - In a couple of weeks we are going just the wrong direction for that. Bandit may get to stay a few days with the Horns at the Flying X while we travel on out to AZ for a family reunion. Maybe George can teach her some "dogplomacy" while she is there.
It isn't going to be any kind of easy to let her go - - and, maybe I won't! But to keep peace with my neighbors, maybe I'll figure out how to do some things differently to keep us out of trouble. Problem is - I love to watch her "lead" us up the street to the firehouse. She hears the tone go off and runs to the street, for she know it means a trip to the fire station. She can run at just over 20 mph, and stays just a few yards ahead of the Tahoe or Blazer then stays to guard and wait for us till we get back from the call. She sings to the sounds of the air brakes squealing as I back the fire engine into the station house then, as soon as the automatic doors start down, she gets herself down the street a few yards, ready to "lead" us back to home. We did restrain her a few times when we thought there would be a conflict arise if we let her go the the station. We left her whining and pouting. Then after we left her, she fought against the chain and finally pulled out of her collar and showed up at the station happy as a clam.
She just now eased in the back door, started talking trash and poking her nose under my arm while I am typing this, telling me "It is Supper Time Dad". She makes quite a production if I act like I am ignoring her - has this funny little warble/growl and sometime it is a real sharp YIP if I turn my back on her.
See what I mean?
