Cowling replacement

Became the new owner of a 1952 Cessna 170B serial number 20931. This starts a long love affair of improving for years to come.

Can anyone give me advice on new cowling and baffling options for the new bird. Does anyone make new pieces or do I need to get cozy with someone who can use my current cowling for a pattern to make new ones? Any suggestions or recommendations would be great.

Thanks

AWI makes new baffling if by baffling your talking the internal air box. For the cowl itself you pretty much need to get close to a metal smith.

The Grill parts and latches are available at a cost. Occasionally you see cowling pieces for sale. You need to know that there are differences in the '48 to 52 cowling in the lip at the bottom and the air intake.

Your '52 should have a 3/4 lip unless you have the seaplane option which is the larger lip. As for the air intake the differences are pretty subtle and while not correct for the purist I don't see why an earlier lower cowl wouldn't fit and work fine.
