I dissagree. That round tail is way too high off the ground.

I think it's good looking! The tail is supposed to be like that.
But I wonder why the nose is on the ground.
Otherwise, it's probably a sweet, old-dog....
(Hard to tell in a black-and-white photo, but I think it's a yellow labrador.... that damned ugly airplane is so distracting, I can't quite tell...)

Note the tailwheel spring is still in place!
It's still registered as a 1957 170B in Great Britain.
It looks much better now............the main landing gear skin patches are still visible under the door.

Richard,
The rear windows of the airplane are kind of obstructed in the pix, but to me, they don't look quite right for a '57 model.

Keep in mind, some authorities use registration dates...not mfr'g or model dates, or serial numbers
when declaring such matters.
Also, a "parts" plane can have whatever datatag came out of the junkyard.
(maybe it's a "junkyard" dog. )

If it is a parts airplane, it has been that way for a long time, check out the cars in the background of the first picture.
It has rounds rear windows and short chord elevators. Is that an original combination? I don't know. Maybe Bruce, George, or somebody who knows years for changes might be able to tell.

It is a B model which has the later cowl and round rear windows. That matches either a '53 or '54. Closer than that is probably impossible to tell.

If you look closely, it still has the tailwheel bracket and spring.

Richard I copied this picture from the link in your post, my question is what type of antenna is the one located in the center of the cockpit roof just in front of the two VHF antenna (click on the picture to enlarge it)?

John-
I have no idea what that tall chunky antenna is behind the fuel vent and ADF sense antenna stand-off mount. My guess would be a GPS.

I'm guessing it's a high speed 406 ELT antenna. I noticed in the directory that "Stormin' Norman" is an Association member so I invited him to join the conversation.
