The International Cessna^® 170 Association

Can anybody recommend a mechanic with 170 experience in Southern CA, SF Valley area? I need an annual for my c-170b based at VNY.

I use Brad Babic, owner of Santa Paula Sky Services. Based at SZP of course! His number is: 805-525-2867. Generally, he's there 7 days a week and can prob fit you in without much hassle. Great guy! I've been working with him for about 7 years now. Former director of Maintenance at a bush place in Alaska. Has a lot of 170 experience and is totally thorogh, reliable and fast. A C-170 is such a simple airplane that almost any A&P with an AI should be experienced enough to provide a good inspection.

You'd think so, but Piper guys miss rear bulkheads, elevator bellcranks, doorposts,
rudder cables in tail, internal condition of control T's, etc. ....just like non tube guys miss king posts, strut ends, etc.
Knowledge geezers like yourself are hard to find who will still work instead of cruise
the L.A. freeways on scooters searching for dames.

The twin of the C-170 being the C-172, the most popular airplane ever built, over 35,000 of them, I can't immagine any IA having not had sufficient experience to be able to provide a proper inspection on one. Just kind of the law of averages. A Sparton Executive might be a different thing entirely.
