N5567C has been in a basket the last 10 years. I have found an A&P to come and assemble it for me. I am looking forward to this project. What Maintenance Manual would you recomend? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely: Mike Schwab

There is no maintenance manual written specifically for the 170 series. The closest thing is the Cessna 100 series '62 and prior which really starts with the 172. Lots of stuff is common of course but others are not.
Info can be found in the Service Manual, the Owners Manual and the Approved Flight Manual. The Illustrated Parts Manual is used a lot to study how something might go together but it is not approved and there are mistakes in it so it can not be taken for gospel if something doesn't seem right.
And of course your best resource will probably be right here. Someone has likely done what your doing before.

Dear Bruce
Thankyou for the information. I will order the manual from Univar. You can bet I will be on this forum a lot! Thank you for taking the time and effort of running this forum and all the help you give others to keep these old planes flying. I really appreciate you and the group of guys helping. Sincerely: Mike Schwab

Is this why the parts manual shows a double/V-strut on page 20? Did the 170 ever have such a strut?

The Cessna 170 (Ragwing) uses a double V strut. Cessna went to a single strut with the all metal, skin stressed, C-170A wing.

Thanks Blueldr - I did not know that. I had better get out more and see some other 170s....
