Scott 3200 Dowel Pin

I contacted Alaskan Bush Wheel this morning asking how deep the dowel pin is supposed to sit in its hole, or rather, how much should be sticking up. The one I removed was down flush with the lower step. It is in as far as it goes and is standing about 1/4" or more proud. The person I talked to said it should be flush, more or less, with the highest step. Either I have the wrong dowel pin (I ordered it through A-Spruce) or the person misspoke. Anyone have any idea which is correct? Thank You, Shawn.

Well, I got an answer from one of the ABI techies: simply drill a #F/1/4" hole deep enough so that the dowel rides flush with the top step. And to make the removal of that dowel easier than the previous one, drill a 1/8" pilot hole through to the other side of the armature (for poking it out from the other side).
I love simple solutions....
