Where would one find a globe for the "Safe Flight indicator" the is the little unit that is the stall warning buzzer that has a light that comes on when the stall is indicated.

I have a good working unit, but no lens for it.

Now a What is it. I have found what appears to be a relay, mounted far left behind the instrument panel. It has a large #8 gauged wire attached, and run to the out put side of the amp gauge, but the other lug was not hooked to any thing to chase it down.

Do you have the cap but no lens in the cap or are you missing both the cap and lens? If just the lens perhaps you can make one from an old plastic car tail light.

This is what your likely looking for. The center cap with lens.

Here is another style.

BTW you do know the stall warning system is not required in the 48 or A model 170 but is required in the 170B.

Also the horn pictured on top sold on Ebay for 99 cents. Not that I'd shop at Ebay.

No I did not know that, you just lightened my empty weight.

Check the TCDS for required equipment.

Now that I'm looking at your horn it looks to me like the second image I posted is also missing the cap and lens but has a red lamp where yours is still clear as it should be under the lens and cap.

Is this the Texas Instruments "auto reset" breaker they used to install in the early Cessnas? I think it used to also run to the turn & bank and the stall warning.

You may be looking at the Klixon auto reset breaker that protects the turn and bank circuit. On the 170A and 52 B model this is located on the back side of the instrument panel just between the switches in the area I circled in red. probably the same on the 48.

Nope,, this is a regular re-lay, located way out board of the instrument panel close to the skin of the boot cowl.

it had a # 6 wire running from the out put side of the Amp meter to it, and a #6 wire running from it up the left door post and over the top of the cabin. but was capped at the right side of the fuselage. plus a #18 gauge wire running from an unlabeled key switch, to the coil of the relay, and to ground on the other side of the relay coil.
I read the wires out today, using a small battery and a multimeter I found this, Connect the battery to the amp meter input side, and a good ground, then make the unlabeled switch, the #6 wire at the right side wing butt becomes hot.

I'm thinking it was the landging light control, but the right wing has no #6 wire in it, but it does have a landing light.

Looking at the wire schematic in the IPC is shows the wire bundles with the landing light wires running up each prospective door post. The only thing that runs up the left post and over towards the right is the speaker wire.

Sounds to me like this was added after the fact for some device no longer installed.

Is it possible your plane had an old autopilot or something else that draws a lot of power?
Check for a mounting shelf behind the baggage area. They may have just cut the wire in the headliner when it was removed vs pull the whole thing.

Mine had an autopilot and belly camera at one time. All the wires were left in place and one was later used for strobes.
Good news it, a complete wire replacement of these planes is an easy thing to do and a log book entry. (Replaced worn electrical wires but not modified the circuit)

Any photos of the keyed switch?

Tom, it appears you've decided to remove the stall horn/light assy.?? (if you still need the red lens let me know...I think I have one lying around somewhere, but I'll have to dig for it. Years ago, Jim W. wanted one and I couldn't find it. Then he found one...and I found mine. Now you need one, and I'll have to look all over again.) :?

When / If you find it, I would like to use this unit, there is a 3/4" hole and 4 screw holes in my panel that needs some thing in it, and the vane switch is installed in the wing.
