Find a set of L-19 stub axles and rigging, the AWB-2500s were made for the L-19, not the 170.

There is an AC that provides approved methods for installations of skis...can not recall the number. My '48 170 had cables attach to a bracket that was clamped to the very top part of the gear leg. The rigging I used was custom made and fit perfectly by that ski mfr in Brooten MN (Aero Skis??). Make sure you have a steel ice cutter cable in front of the bungie near the ski toes.

Attached photo for Wheel Ski Cable Brackets for the 2500 AWB installation on the Cessna 170B.
Boot Cowl Cable Brackets and Aft Bracket and Springs are available from F. Atlee Dodge, Anchorage, AK. Steel Axels are recommended. Steel Springs are approved.
Attachments at the the gear legs are not recommended, and have an Advisory Circular against the use of the ski bracket on the gear leg.

Just an OBTW: Don't use the old obsolete brakets that were original to the installation (mounted on the gear leg near the gear box).
