Hello all....just wondering if anyone has upgraded there panels to meet the 2020 ads-b in/out requirement. My aircraft a 56 172 seems to have limited room for an upgrade..anyone?

Not yet and I wouldn't unless I had an immediate need/use for ADSB.
The equipment is going to get smaller and cheaper in the next six years and that's not counting the inevitable delay in the mandate.

Pmel. It is ill advised to do any upgrades regarding ADSB yet. Technology is advancing extremely fast and the FAA will be imposing new regs with finer tuned equipment. I have been attending UAV meetings and right now the FAA's head is spinning with just trying to get their hands around the idea. A new piece of technology which is not popular in the GA community is called FLARM. It is used in Europe and in the glider community in the US. The FAA has not even started looking at this technology but it is advancing quickly because the FLARM will look at ADSB,Transponders, and other FLARM devices. The technology provides azimuth and distance information much like the TCAS does for airliners. There is some really neat stuff coming out. and buying the most current stuff now will be obsolete in a couple years. The FAA is pushing for UAV integration in 2015. I should also say that the term UAV is being phased out to the new term RPA's.( Remotely Piloted Aircraft) to gain social acceptance among he public.

That's the type vehicle I like best.... the ones that are remotely-piloted.... VERY remotely....far away from ME.
