New Owner-Oil Dipstick and fuses

I bought my '53 B model in January. flown it about 15-20 hours. Blew a 25A fuse right away during my first night flight, can't fine the same physical size replacement. What are my options, I was thinking of replacing the fuse receptacles or installing circuit breakers?

Also after reading some things here I am not sure if I have a 170 or 172 dipstick. There is a number on the end of the dipstick that says....531081, I cannot find anywhere that the number is listed or for what aircraft it should be used. Do I have a correct dipstick?

Congratulations on your new 170! Typing that dipstick part number into the search box at the top of the page lead to this post.

Congrats on the new to you 170 :)

Fuses can be found but hard to come by as I believe they are no longer made. I think I got mine in eBay but you could also try the antique car shops. Some have pulled the ends off the blown fuse and slipped them over the newer thin fuses as well.

In the end, I too a few days and replaced mine with pop out breakers. At the same time, I replaced every cloth wrapped wire in my plane. It's really not that many wires and not a hard job to do.

I also have a 172 dipstick and just marked the proper graduations on the stick. I have a second stick for a 170 but it doesn't properly fit the O-300-D in my plane.
