The International Cessna^® 170 Association

Can the Tailspring Channel, Cessna p/n 0510000-31 be replaced by L-19 tailspring channel from Air Repair, p/n 0642136? It comes as new old stock in a Cessna package. The difference between $511.00 from Univair and $45 from Air repair causes me to "seek to understand." One A&P here in New England says the term "serviceable" is quite broadly interpreted. Thanks.

They are the same. Use the Air Repair part. Many times Univair pricing reflects the fact they think they are the only game in town.

In this case, I think Univair has warehoused/NOS which is priced for storage/inflation, while Air Repair is new mil. surplus.... and priced as ... well, surplus.

If this little gem of information isn't worth the price of admission to this association, I don't know what is. A tip from George, and a call to Air Repair Inc. 662-846-0228 http://www.airrepairinc.com/index.html just saved me $435.70! Yingling had the cheapest price I could find on the 0510000-31 for $480.60, while Air Repair's price on the 0642136 was $45.10. Univair also sometimes has a short run of some slow moving parts made and that sort of stuff is expensive.
