Others may suggest shops closer to you but check out http://www.barnstormersworkshop.com. They are located in Williamson, GA at Peach State Airdrome (GA2). I have not used them for any repair work but saw some excellent Cessna 195 gear box repairs they were doing several years ago. More recently they repaired 170 Assoc. member Brad Sasser's 170 gear box. He was very pleased with their work. Their phone number is 770-227-8282

Also give 170 member Del Lehmann (wingnut) a call. He is located in Mena, AR and knows 170's quite well. Del's a great guy and does excellent work. George Horn and Paul Wood can vouch for his work.

Bring lots of money and don't let anyone talk you into "Splicing" the bulkheads. :D

I bought my 170B from these great people in Enterprise Al. They have a gearbox STC as well as a factory Cessna fuselage and wing jig. My aircraft was repaired with their gearbox mod before I bought it. Ask for Leo.

Andre, could you scan and send any installation drawings or more info what exactly the STC allows (why it might be beneficial) so we can but it in our library for our members to view.

Thanks

I didn't look on a map to see where in MS you are located, but Air Repair is in Cleveland. If I were you (and not me  ) they would be my first choice. My reasons are location in proximity to you, and they specialize in type, AND repair.

I didn't know Air Repair worked on that kinda stuff, but I do remember seeing a Bird Dog the last time I was up there. Thanks. They're about 40 minutes from me.

Thanks for the responses, fellas.

I talked to Air Repair and they said they just don't have time to work on anything but ag planes (and bird dogs occasionally).
