I have never seen a step on a undercarriage leg BUT a member some time ago was making a temporary one that slid on the leg to help you up to refuel or check the level of fuel. I have seen bracket steps fitted to the fuse large to assist in checking fuel levels . These steps came off 172 ,s and 182,s . I use a small set of folding steps to climb up.

That removable step is pretty trick. Do you happen to recall the contact information for the guy that made it?

Cessna step
Cessna step
These were made but limited on the production run. I ran out of material and the business relationship went south with the fabricator.

The removable landing gear step was made by Larry Hansen. His email address is:

Larrysplanes@Yahoo.com

They were $80 each when I bought them and worth every penny. You really need two of them if you have wheel pants and can't step on the tire or make one big step up to where the gear inserts into the fuse.

+1 on Larry's steps, get two like Arash says if you have pants.

Here is the removable step. It weighs about a pound and is made of steel. They are built to order by some guy I found on the internet a long time ago.

Here are the ones that permanently clamp to the gear leg. They are made of aluminum and both steps weigh less than the single removable one shown above. They leave room for the brake line and the steps are installed towards the front of the plane. I bought these off a member here and I think they are a one-off design.

Thanks for the pix's and the contaact info on the removable steps
