Removing push/pull switch from the panel

I have an inline fuse in the line between a panel switch and the electric turn an bank instrument. It sits in an area just above the fuse panel and I can not get two hands on it to check the fuse. There is not enough slack in the wire to move it to a more open area. Removing the switch from the panel would help greatly.

However, I have the original push/pull knob type switch common to 1955 170Bs. When I spin the lock ring off the front, the knob keeps it from coming off entirely and the switch can not be removed from the back side of the panel. I do not see any set screws in the little knob.

Before I bust one trying, can anyone tell me if the knobs are threaded into the switch post and can be unscrewed?

I'll answer my own question. Yes they do unscrew. The plastic knob has a threaded brass insert and unscrews easily. :D

Yes, and your T&B should not be fused where you cannot access it.
Get rid of the inline fuse and protect the T&B with a CB, or tie it to a fuse which can be accessed from the front of the panel.
(Some early installations had auto-reset CBs, but having the T&B served by an accessible fuse or CB is my preference.)

The 170 is in the radio shop in Calaveras getting some new coms. I have asked them to replace all six original fuse holders with circuit breakers along with moving the two in line fuses (turn and bank and cigarette lighter) to panel mounted circuit breakers.
