Heater duct trim pieces

The trim pieces that go on the perimeter of my heater duct outlets for my '56 170B disappeared long ago, and I would like to reinstall them. These are the outlets that discharge just forward of the door, at floor level. Are there sources of these around, or should I have my sheetmetal guy craft something up?

Thanks!

I am also looking for these pieces, I have seen them on several 170's but the part manual does not seem to show the trim piece that goes over the forward heat duct. I have a 1954 170B

I am thinking the ones I have seen may have come from different year airplanes and that my 1954 170B did not have them in the first place.

Looking through some Cessna 172 parts manuals( 1963-74) I came up with what is called a upholstery retainer. part number 0700100-193 which is the right place according to the diagram, can anyone say this is the correct part or not? If not does anyone know what is the correct part number,

Any help is appreciated.

Merry Christmas to all

I can't confirm the p/n for you but you might look at a C-185 parts manual for that part. Again, I am not that familiar with the '56 B model but you might check to see if the 185s have the same part.

I have no idea what the part number is but the 56 170 that I am rebuilding has them. I made new ones. they are .016 aluminum
and are simple to make. I would be willing to make a pair for you, unfortunately I am in Florida and my airplane and shop is in Minnesota, If you are willing to wait until April I would be happy to make a pair. Del 320-221-1503

0700100-193 is the correct p/n for the side panel heat duct trim. This ducting is not one of Cessna's finer pieces of engineering. Take a look at pages 46-47 of this article for some ideas on improving the design.

Even if you find a new one, they always get smashed-in while getting in and out of the plane, they are just in the right/wrong place for big clod-hoppers to hit them.

What I did on my 185 was to cut short pieces of 1/2" aluminum tubing and rivit them inside the heat duct outlet piece under the outside trim pieces in-line with the air flow. The vents never got caved-in after that.

Mine are covered in the same vinyl used for the seat trim. 1955
