Wingtip Dent, IAs in Florida/Georgia?

Hi all,

I'm new to 170s. Owned a '46 140 for a while, got a ride from Bill Kelsall in his awesome ragwing 170 a few years ago (plus some helpful hints and history), and getting more serious about looking for one myself now. I've lurked here off and on for some time too, glad you guys are here! Lots of great info. Sometimes scary too!

There's one in Florida I'm looking into. I haven't seen it in person yet, but a noticeable first possible issue is a dent in the right wingtip (see photo), just ahead of the position light.

Before looking at the wing internals, does anyone see that as a significant issue? I'm not a mechanic, and haven't dealt with the airworthiness of dents like that. I'm not concerned with having a show-quality plane - I'm okay with safe imperfections. I just don't know what the guidelines are in that area.

And on that note, can anyone recommend an IA who would do a pre-buy/annual in the Jacksonville, FL area?

Thanks!

Im not so concerned about the dent in the wing tip as it looks like it might be hangar rash but I noticed the oil canning in the skin forward of the stabilizer on the fuselage. Thats not normal and I would investigate that closer.

Probably some ham-fisted person pushed on the wrong spot trying to move it around.

Is that more oil-canning at the right, rear door post area?

A little oil canning doesn't mean much (just look into it further.) The wingtip shouldn't be much of anything.. You might be able to expand it out.
