Hello All!
First post and new owner of a 1950 Cessna 170A (I've been flying a Cirrus for a number of years now -- decided it was 'time to start flying a "real" airplane' :-)).

Issue
We're looking to replace the Flap Lock Catch in both wings (part #'s 0523226-2 and 0523266-2...see picture of broken part) and we can't seem to find any info on the parts. Has anyone had to replace the parts? Can you please point me in the right direction. Thanks!

...I also had to post a pic of my new [to me] airplane. I love it! The Cirrus is SO jealous!

First, they are the same part right and left. 0523226-2 for serials 18965 and on. 0523266 is for serials 18729 to 18965. You have screws and a nut plate so your serial is later than 18965 or your plane has the later parts installed.

I've not had to replace mine. They look to be a pretty easy part to fabricate and I wouldn't be surprised if you end up having that done.

When these locks are operating as well as they can, they really don't work. It is not uncommon to see an A model with the flaps wiggling in the breeze. Knowledgeable owners put the flaps full down to prevent them from banging in the breeze or install locks between the flap and the fuselage fairing.
