Replacement fuel tank

Post by reganrichmond »

Hi All,

I am new to the forum and have found it helpful on a few topics already. I have a '48 170, and we are in the process of doing new fabric. Problem is one of my outboard fuel tanks has obvious signs of past patches, as well as severe corrosion. We don't want to try patching it again only to have it crack and leak all through our brand new fabric and paint job in the next few years.

Can anyone give me a lead on some new, or used, but corrosion free fuel tanks?

Your help is greatly appreciated,

Regan

I have a used tank from a 140. It is at my hangar and I can check on it and maybe email a photo if you like. Can't remember off hand if it is a left, or a right side tank.

Also note the stock had only the right side with 2 tanks. the left side had one.
