Do you have pancake mufflers now?

If you do you have to buy/scrounge heat baffle that surrounds then and something to use as seals around the muffler inlets. You also want two left hand mufflers and baffle. In other words on a '52 and earlier the complete left side is exactly the same as the right.

If you already have Hanlon Wilsons and baffles you should have what I subscribe unless someone put the later B muffler on the right in which case I'd guess you already have the heat baffles for that side which are like hens teeth to find. No one makes the funnel intake for the front.

As for a supplier I'd use AWI if I was buying. http://awi-ami.com/

Thanks Bruce.

I talked to a few guys at the impromptu brunch get together today at KRAL this morning that also recommended AWI.

Is there a forum resouce that I can access to get the Cessna parts numbers and/or diagrams?

Regards

Jim

We don't have the IPCs posted at our site. However you will find just about every Cessna manual you could ever want including the B model IPC here: http://mrwebman.com/aviation/cessna/manuals/

The stock exhaust on a 1952 C-170B would be the Hanlon Wilson type. Pancakes were way earlier.

BL, your nearly as sharp as a tack. Pancakes ended with the A model in '51. So earlier but not way earlier.

In any case the retrofit for pancakes is the '52 exhaust system which is different than the '53 and later system.

To clarify what Bruce posted earlier.... if you have pancakes you will have to scrounge around....and if you want to convcert to HW's....you want two left side muffs systems to change to HW type from pancakes.

Charlie Field at AWI in Minnesota knows the drill and can provide you with all the necessities.
