Oil Sump Drain Plug

The forward oil sump drain plug on my O-300 is drilled for safety wire. However, with the oil sump baffle installed, I can't find any place on the engine to attach a safety wire. Even if I take the baffle off temporarily, I can't find any place to attach a safety wire that would not interfere with reinstalling the baffle. Am I missing something? Should I not worry about safety wire on the forward drain plug? If I should worry about it, where do you attach the safety wire on the engine?

No your not missing something. There is no convenient place close by to wire it to. Many wires are streched clear up to the front of the engine but at the moment I can't think what the popular place is to attach it to there either. I think I made a tab with a hole for a bolt and wire and put the tab under a bolt. But I'll have to look at mine to remember.

Mine is attached to a hole in the baffle.

And as I said mine is safetied to a tab I placed under the pal nut of the front sump stud.

I also protected the sump from abrasion wear by the wire with a plastic sleeve.
