Prop Shop in SE Michigan

On the way home from Gulf Shores we stopped in Tennessee and picked up a used 7653 propeller for my O-300A from a friend. The deal is contingent on the propeller being serviceable. Does anyone know of a reputable shop is southeastern Michigan that could do an airworthiness inspection on this prop?

Thanks,

I used H & S Propeller Shop in White Lake, Michigan not long ago for a re-pitch, and was satisfied with the work and the price. They even let me watch the operation.

Miles, I'll second H and S. I have had good results with them. They are no longer located at the Pontiac airport, they moved into a new building a couple of miles off Interstate 75 north of the airport. Probably less than 50 miles from you. An old and well established company with decades of experience. They have overhauled 3 constant speed propellers for me and I have been happy with the quality of the work and service each time. They may not be the cheapest doing this type of work but they work to insure value for the customer. The last propeller I sent them they did an inspect, repair and reseal for me at my request instead of an overhaul as the blades were in excellent condition with only 240 hrs since new. Their phone number is 2four8 nine22 9two9five. Hope this helps.

Thanks Steve and Tim! Just the kind of recommendations I was looking for. H&S is less than 30 miles from here (Howell).

Now Miles & Karen get to find out, as some others of us have, that they don't know how they had time to work with all the things they will be doing :D Its great :!:

Absolutely, Bruce! Im really learning my way around (and Karen is relearning). This morning we've already had a septic tank pumped and inspected at the house we're buying in Brighton, delivered the prop to H&S in White Lake, and drove back to Howell, all before lunch! I'm looking forward to exploring more; we passed two state parks between Brighton and White Lake.

H&S looks like a great shop. They took the prop right away and made sure they knew what I wanted, even down to the paint, assuming it passes inspection. There is some surface corrosion where some birds had used it as a perch for several years, but Mark said the prop looked like it had plenty of meat left to grind it out. I told them I wasn't in a hurry, so it should be done in a couple of weeks.
