We had done some flying over a swamp and was heading home when a high pitch vibration occurred. I was very concerned as it was a new vibration to a normally smooth engine . All. Engine parameters were normal . After landing and washing the aircraft from a millions of dead bugs all over it ,I decided to ground run the aircraft and check for this vibration. It's still there . Every thing in the engine was checked for security and the engine oil filter was pulled and inspected ,no metal. Prop security was checked. All ok . It was the airframe turn now . Nothing found . It was then noticed the face of the prop still has some residue of bugs on it . This is the side of the prop that faces the pilot. So hot water and a heap of soap and the prop was cleaned spotless. I even used some acetone on a rag to really clean the prop. Then another ground run . YIPEE. No vibration . I couldn't believe the remains of a bugs on a prop could cause such drama and heart ache . I have now done over 4 hours since the prop vibrations and all is good .

Maybe some of those bugs were slow flyers with some lead in their butt.
