The International Cessna^® 170 Association

Several months ago, I bought a muffer from a 1952(?) C-145 installation, and I'm just now getting around to sending it off to have it overhauled. I opened the shroud and noticed that this muffler doesn't have any of the heat-transfer studs that are on both of my mufflers. Has anyone seen one like that before? Also note the different design of riser clamp that only requires two bolts.

Arash, David Ross (bagarre) probably has more of those clamps if you can talk him out of them.

The first time I had a opportunity to work on my airpane I found one of the riser clamps with a bolt hole broken off. I went to Kenny Faeth's junk yard for a half clamp replacement and found a batch of two bolt clamps and bought enough to do the whole engine. Only half as many hard to get at bolts to have to tighten.

Bought them at wag aero two annuals ago at the link mentioned above.

I didn't think about the mufflers being studless at the time. No log book entries about new mufflers so I assume (heh) they are stock or came with the O300 conversion in the 1970s.

I have a studless muffler on the side that gives carb heat. regular studded type on the cabin heat muffler.

thanks for the link on the 2-bolt clamps, I think those will be well worth it.
